Brenda Sgard :) whose Mom and Dad Jonathan and I stayed with in France this summer, said that the French have a saying, which is basically: Never let the same day happen twice. I don't remember exactly how it went, but the gist was, to make each day different. I think it's a good mantra. I've been trying to incorporate it into my life. And to the extent I've been succeeding in doing that, it seems to be making me a happier, more productive me. I guess I'd never thought that making life varied should be an end in itself. But it seems to make sense: people like variety (there must also be a dozen other philosophical reasons why it's satisfying: getting 'outside' of one's problems, broadening one's perspective, meeting new people, learning...). It's also one goal that's (relatively) easy to accomplish.
